Moisturizer Magic – Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench

I have found magic in a jar, yes dear readers this moisturizer is so good that I will even forgive the jar packaging! Peter Thomas Roth has very recently released Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream and it’s nothing short of amazing.

When I first read the description on the package, I thought it all sounds a bit hokey. Here is an excerpt: Drench your skin with a liquid cloud of pure, endless hydration drawn right from the atmosphere. This concentrated 30% Hyaluronic Acid cream transforms atmospheric vapor into fresh pure water from the clouds, providing your skin with a continuous burst of intense hydration that lasts up to 72 hours. Atmospheric vapor? Pure water from the clouds? How does that even work?!? You have to admit, it all sounds pretty far fetched but regardless of the rainbows and unicorns story…..the moisturizer indeed does what it says! My skin has never felt so soft, hydrated and fresh. And the burst of hydration does last for hours not that I can verify 72 specifically because that would be gross to not wash or apply skincare for that long. Even if I were stuck on an extremely long flight and experienced delay in getting to face washing facilities, it still wouldn’t likely be 72 hours. But I can say that this definitely lasts a full 24 hours easily. You can use this product morning and night although I have opted to only use it as part of my night time routine. I apply it before bed and wake up to super soft and hydrated (but not oily) skin in the morning. I use a basic serum which I’ve been using for a long time in the morning and then apply either a tinted moisturizer or go bare faced with a little concealer. My skin is amazingly hydrated throughout the entire day. It’s January – cold, windy and my skin has never looked better!

Here were my first impressions:

  • Super light weight
  • Absorbed into the skin very quickly
  • Skin felt immediately smoother and soft
  • No real scent and colourless (love!)
  • Kept skin hydrated and comfortable

The texture is so light weight that this product would be very suitable for oily or combination skin as well as normal and dry skin. It might seem too light weight for dry skin but give it a chance because I was quite amazed at how hydrating this is. I even tested on my severely dry hands and it turned those around after 1-2 applications.

Water Drench is quite reasonably priced at $64 CAD for 48ml jar. I generally don’t believe that miracles in a jar exist but this is about as close to as I’ve seen.
