Aaaaand I’m back! As I’ve sat down to write this post, it’s come to my attention that I haven’t posted in 24 days which is neglectful to say the least. Although maybe some of you were grateful for the break, ha! Let’s all ease back in with a review of the Fall FabFitFun box.
If FFF is new to you, it’s a subscription service box that is delivered quarterly and contains an array of seasonal items – fashion, beauty, fitness & lifestyle. I personally enjoy the boxes because:
- They have a lot of trendy little bits and pieces that I get a decent amount of use out of
- It’s something fun in the mail to look forward to
- There is always at least one item that is over-the-top, go-girl inspirational but dumb messaging that I can add sarcastic commentary to in my reviews
All of this for the mid-range price of $49.95 USD + $8 shipping to Canada.
I’m going to post overall thoughts on the box first in case you just want to know if it’s worth it. Keep reading after for a review on each item. So overall, the Fall box had a good variety of items, some things I would go out and purchase and some I wouldn’t but am happy to have. There are a couple of new beauty items that are interesting to try. As is the case with most FFF boxes, the individual items are not worth the retail value stated (in my opinion). However all items together are worth more than the cost of the box so it’s still a good value. If you like what you see and would like to try it out, here is a link for $10 off your first box, cancellable at any time:
Here are the individual item reviews:
Mer-Sea & Co Scarf – Retail value of $98
This super soft, knitted, extra-large scarf is cozy and perfect for fall evenings and will last well into our cold and long Canadian winter. I’ll get a lot of use out of this and the ombre colour pattern is quite nice. There were 3 possible colour options; pinky beige, grey or teal. I received the pinky beige which I’m quite happy with. If I saw this at a store, I probably wouldn’t pay $98 for it but would pay about $45 or so.
The JetSet Diaries Cable Knit Beanie – Retail value of $49
Another great fashion item for fall and winter! This came in 2 colour options; black or pink. I received black which is always my preferred colour for accessories. Members actually had a choice of picking between the beanie or a belt. The “choice” items are a newish thing to FFF, members get to pick between a couple of items. It’s a nice way to customize your box a little more but is still a surprise because you don’t know what colour you will receive. I wouldn’t pay $49 for the hat but would pay about $20.
Fitness & Lifestyle Items
Private Party Gym Bag – Retail value of $59
This is the go-girl, inspo-dumb message item of the box. A gym bag that says “Will Workout for Cupcakes”. The main problem with this particular message is that anyone larger than a toothpick, carrying this bag will very quickly become the butt end of many jokes. I’ve already envisioned the Instagram captions….”obviously didn’t work out hard enough” or “gave up on the workout, just went to cupcakes”. Someone at FFF clearly didn’t think this one through. Now to be fair, there were other (better) options like “Gym & Juice” or “Meet Me at the Barre”. I didn’t receive those though and since I’m not a toothpick, I won’t be carrying this bag around. Will donate to a skinny friend instead.
UPDATE: I found another FFF subscriber to trade with. I now own the “Meet me at the Barre” one which is much more suitable and I love the bag now! And somewhere in Northern Ontario, there is a petite cupcake lovin’ gal carrying the cupcake bag.
IMM Living Coxet Wire Heart Ceramic Jewelry Holder – Retail value of $33
Cute and trendy jewelry holder, definitely not worth the $33 as the wire is super cheap and flimsy in person. I’m still going to use it because that’s something I wouldn’t typically go out and buy plus it’s cute and does the job.
Mytagalongs Hot & Cold Gel Pack – Retail value of $15
More embarrassing messaging that I wouldn’t take outside of the house but an otherwise very handy item to have and something that I wouldn’t go out and normally buy. The quality is nice and it’s worth the $15. We also received a sample of some Cottonelle Flushable Cleansing Cloths.
Whish Beauty Renewing Mud Mask – Retail value of $48
I’m not familiar with the brand but it seems to be made with decent ingredients for the most part so I’m looking forward to trying it out.
Deco Miami Lavendar Cuticle Oil – Retail value of $12.50
Haven’t heard of this brand either but it’s vegan, cruelty-free and free of the super harsh chemicals many nail products contain. The main ingredient is mineral oil which is a petroleum based product so basically…..cheap. The packaging is kind of cheap and it doesn’t really smell like real lavendar essential oil was used in the product. I’ll give it a go but don’t expect much.
UPDATE: As suspected, this product is cheap and doesn’t really do anything. The only disappointing item in an otherwise great box.
Trestique Matte Colour & Shiny Balm Lip Crayon – Retail value of $28
I had received this brand before, a couple of years ago in an Ipsy subscription bag. I like the sleek packaging and 2-in-1 style products. I was actually quite excited about this item. It’s available in 2 colour options; Florence Fig (what I was hoping for) or Tuscan Wine (what I received). I’m sort of on the fence about trying it out or giving it away, it does look like a nice quality product though!
UPDATE: I’m in love with this lip crayon! It actually retails for $40 CAD at Sephora so a very good value as part of the FFF box. Wasn’t sure on the colour originally but if you apply the balm first and then the crayon after, it’s not as intense and a beautiful fall colour. Ended up being one of my favourite items in the box!
dp Hue Apple Cider Vinegar Hair Rinse – Retail value of $35
This is one of the items I am most excited about! It was another choice item under beauty innovation. Members could pick between this or a Teeth Whitening Powder + toothbrush. The ACV hair rinse is a shampoo and conditioner substitute that removes impurities without stripping natural oil. Very curious to try this out and see if it works.
UPDATE: Another amazing product that I love! This cleanses my hair beautifully and I’m very impressed with how effective it is overall. Not the highest level of conditioning so those with dry hair will need additional conditioner. Really works well for my fine, straight hair though.
